It’s time to protect yourself, digitally

The world is showering us with new lessons every day. As a believer of unlearning and relearning, I surmised that this is the best time for me to make notes.

People are overwhelmed with the things that are happening around them, which is also leading to anxiousness and distress; whether it is how nature can change the way we work or how financial institutes can go in a tough time.

You may also believe that this is the time to be worried and cautious about everything. However, it’s quite the contrary, and you need to be calm and stay away from things that can make you anxious.

A repeated pattern that has caught my eye is WhatsApp forwards, news updates every minute, Facebook shared content and long youtube videos from no verified sources. People who are consuming it are our family members, gullible people of the country, and most ourselves. I am not sure if a bat is a reason for the Coronavirus, but I have read it so many times that I must believe it.

I don’t know if clapping for 5 minutes will save us from any disease but adding keywords like Ayurveda, Naturopathy can support the point.

I don’t think the turmoil in the Finance industry is due to some planetary change. Even if it is, ignore it, because it can destroy your patience.

It is a tough time for everyone. While we’re sitting in one place with nothing to do, it is difficult to quell the temptation to not go on the internet and consume stuff without identifying the sources. But, for the sake of your mental peace, it might be necessary.

Here’s what I believe is a great way to retain your sanity and detox from the COVID-19 news:

Watch some great films

If you are with your family, watch Anand, the movie that will send you through a rollercoaster of laughter and tears and in the end, give your life meaning. It is available on Amazon Prime. Golmaal (1970), Chup Chup Ke, are also available online.

There are some amazing original shows on Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hotstar and all other platforms. Now is the time to binge-watch and no one can stop you.

Clear out your TBR list

Although getting the new books can be difficult at this time, you can go for all the books that are already on the shelf.

If you genuinely need new ones because you’re tired of reading the existing ones, you can go for the digital format available online and other websites. You can also ask your friends and family for some great recommendations.

Listen to podcasts

Spotify, Apple Podcast, Google Podcast are goldmines. You can find 100s of podcasts about life, business, productivity and more. You just need to click on one.

Talk!

This is the time when you can just text anyone and ask them about their quarantine life experience. Trust me, it is better than discussing the way you can get cured of the Coronavirus through clapping or garlic.

Have a good day and keep yourself safe!
